Google Sheets integration for databases, warehouses and BI tools

Spreadsheet CRM workflows and lightweight pipelines. Datrise captures Google Sheets entities such as spreadsheet-based CRM rows, updates, and operational workflow tables, then lands normalized and typed models for warehouse reporting, attribution, and AI workflows.

The Google Sheets API v4 authenticates with OAuth 2.0, service account, incremental runs key on modifiedTime (via the companion Drive API's files.get on the spreadsheetId) — the Sheets API itself exposes no per-row or per-sheet change timestamp, and Google Sheets caps calls at 300 read and 300 write requests per minute per project; 60 read and 60 write requests per minute per user per project.

Of the 3 objects, 3 sync as upserts keyed on the primary key and 0 as append-only streams, so each incremental run moves only what changed since the last watermark. Every object lands in its own table (for example `google_sheets_spreadsheet_based_crm_rows`) with a schema derived from the Google Sheets API rather than a flattened CSV, in any of the 43 supported destinations.

What Google Sheets data Datrise extracts

Each object lands in its own typed table. Sync mode is derived from the object: history-style objects append, everything else upserts.

APIGoogle Sheets API v4
AuthenticationOAuth 2.0, service account — OAuth 2.0 user consent or a service account; the narrowest usable scope for extraction is spreadsheets.readonly.
Paginationnone — spreadsheets.values.get / batchGet return the entire requested range in one response; there is no page token, so extraction is bounded by range size rather than row count.
Rate limit300 read and 300 write requests per minute per project; 60 read and 60 write requests per minute per user per project
Incremental cursormodifiedTime (via the companion Drive API's files.get on the spreadsheetId) — the Sheets API itself exposes no per-row or per-sheet change timestamp — There is no changes feed for cell content, so most integrations either full-refresh each sheet or gate re-pulls on the file's Drive modifiedTime.

What bites when replicating Google Sheets

  • Sheets API v4 quotas are 300 read and 300 write requests per minute per project, with per-user sub-limits of 60 read and 60 write requests per minute per project, so one service-account key polling many spreadsheets hits the user limit long before the project limit.
  • There is no incremental-changes endpoint for cell data; extraction must diff a full `values.get` pull or gate re-pulls on the parent file's `modifiedTime`, which the Sheets API itself does not expose.
  • `values.batchGet` has no pagination parameter, so requesting an unbounded range like `Sheet1!A:Z` on a very large sheet returns one large payload instead of paging cleanly.
  • Row and column deletions leave no tombstone — a deleted row simply disappears from the next `values.get` result, so downstream replication must diff row counts or rely on full-refresh to detect removals.

Google Sheets connector FAQ

What Google Sheets data does the connector extract?
3 objects: spreadsheet-based CRM rows, updates and operational workflow tables. Each lands in its own table with types preserved; history-style objects (0) load as append-only streams.
Is the Google Sheets integration incremental?
Yes. After the initial full load, every run reads only records changed since the last watermark (updated-at or event timestamp) and applies an upsert or an append depending on the object.
Where can I load Google Sheets data?
Into 43 destinations: relational databases, cloud warehouses, data lakes, spreadsheets and BI tools. Each Google Sheets → destination pair has its own page with the object-to-table mapping.
