Monday.com connector

Monday.com integration for databases, warehouses and BI tools

Work OS for CRM, projects, and workflows. Datrise captures Monday.com entities such as boards, items, groups, status timelines, automations, and owner activity, then lands normalized and typed models for warehouse reporting, attribution, and AI workflows.

The monday.com API v2 (GraphQL), dated per-release versioning (e.g. `2024-01`) authenticates with OAuth 2.0, personal access token, incremental runs key on updated_at (compared against each item's created_at to bucket new vs. updated) cross-referenced with the Activity Logs stream, and Monday.com caps calls at Personal API tokens share a combined 10,000,000 complexity points/minute budget for reads+writes (1,000,000 for trial/free accounts); app tokens get 5,000,000 points/minute for reads and 5,000,000 for writes separately; a single query is capped at 5,000,000 points, and requests are additionally capped at 5,000 per 10 seconds per IP.

Of the 6 objects, 5 sync as upserts keyed on the primary key and 1 as append-only streams, so each incremental run moves only what changed since the last watermark. Every object lands in its own table (for example `monday_boards`) with a schema derived from the Monday.com API rather than a flattened CSV, in any of the 43 supported destinations.

What Monday.com data Datrise extracts

Each object lands in its own typed table. Sync mode is derived from the object: history-style objects append, everything else upserts.

APImonday.com API v2 (GraphQL), dated per-release versioning (e.g. `2024-01`)
AuthenticationOAuth 2.0, personal access token — Apps authenticate via OAuth 2.0; individual users can alternatively generate a personal API token from their profile for direct API access.
Paginationcursor — Paginated connections like `items_page` take `limit`/`page` arguments and expose `next_items_page` via a cursor; the `items_page` limit is 500 items per call as of API version 2024-01 (100 on 2023-10).
Rate limitPersonal API tokens share a combined 10,000,000 complexity points/minute budget for reads+writes (1,000,000 for trial/free accounts); app tokens get 5,000,000 points/minute for reads and 5,000,000 for writes separately; a single query is capped at 5,000,000 points, and requests are additionally capped at 5,000 per 10 seconds per IP
Incremental cursorupdated_at (compared against each item's created_at to bucket new vs. updated) cross-referenced with the Activity Logs stream — monday.com has no dedicated changes-since endpoint; incremental sync typically joins item `updated_at` timestamps with the Activity Logs stream, which is bounded by your plan's log-retention window.
WebhooksYes — monday.com Webhooks (event types include `create_item`, `change_column_value`, `item_deleted`, `item_archived`)
Bulk exportNo
Deletes detectableYes — The `item_deleted` (and `subitem_deleted`) webhook event fires on deletion; there is no REST-style deleted-records endpoint for polling-only integrations.

What bites when replicating Monday.com

  • A single query is capped at 5,000,000 complexity points and all queries on one personal API token share a combined 10,000,000-points-per-minute budget, so a few unpaginated `items_page` queries against large boards can exhaust the budget in seconds.
  • `items_page` returns at most 500 items per call on API version 2024-01 (only 100 on 2023-10), so switching or pinning the API version changes how many pages a full-board extract needs.
  • Each `create_item` mutation alone costs 10,000 complexity points; bulk-creating more than 10 to 20 items in a tight loop routinely trips the per-minute budget and should be queued instead.
  • Webhook registration requires echoing back a `challenge` token in the initial POST body, and JWT-signed payloads (verified against your app's Signing Secret) are only available when the webhook is created with an integration app token, not a personal OAuth token.

Monday.com connector FAQ

What Monday.com data does the connector extract?
6 objects: boards, items, groups, status timelines, automations and owner activity. Each lands in its own table with types preserved; history-style objects (1: owner activity) load as append-only streams.
Is the Monday.com integration incremental?
Yes. After the initial full load, every run reads only records changed since the last watermark (updated-at or event timestamp) and applies an upsert or an append depending on the object.
Where can I load Monday.com data?
Into 43 destinations: relational databases, cloud warehouses, data lakes, spreadsheets and BI tools. Each Monday.com → destination pair has its own page with the object-to-table mapping.
