Airtable connector

Airtable integration for databases, warehouses and BI tools

Spreadsheet-database hybrid for structured team data. Datrise captures Airtable entities such as bases, tables, records, fields, views and linked records, then lands normalized and typed models for warehouse reporting, attribution, and AI workflows.

The Airtable Web API authenticates with OAuth 2.0, personal access token, and Airtable caps calls at 5 requests per second per base, plus 50 requests per second across all bases for a given personal access token/user or service account.

Of the 6 objects, 6 sync as upserts keyed on the primary key and 0 as append-only streams, so each incremental run moves only what changed since the last watermark. Every object lands in its own table (for example `airtable_bases`) with a schema derived from the Airtable API rather than a flattened CSV, in any of the 43 supported destinations.

What Airtable data Datrise extracts

Each object lands in its own typed table. Sync mode is derived from the object: history-style objects append, everything else upserts.

Airtable API: setup facts for the connector

APIAirtable Web API
AuthenticationOAuth 2.0, personal access token — Personal access tokens (scoped, bearer header) suit single-user integrations; OAuth 2.0 is Airtable's recommended flow for third-party apps acting on behalf of other users, and the legacy static API key was retired on February 1, 2024.
Paginationoffset — List Records returns up to `pageSize` (max 100) records plus an opaque `offset` string; pass it back as a query parameter to fetch the next page until the response omits `offset`.

Deletes detectableYes — A base webhook's payload lists `destroyedRecordIds` per table, but only while the webhook and its payload backlog are alive.

What bites when replicating Airtable

  • List Records caps pages at 100 rows via `pageSize`/`offset` and has no implicit modified-time field, so a connector needs a base-side `Last Modified Time` formula field before it can do anything but full refreshes.
  • The per-base limit is 5 requests/second; exceeding it returns HTTP 429 and Airtable requires a 30-second back-off before retrying, which throttles any two connectors polling the same base at once.
  • Webhooks are a ping-only notification (base ID, webhook ID, timestamp); the actual `destroyedRecordIds`/`changedRecordsById` diff has to be pulled separately from List Webhook Payloads, and both the webhook (7 days idle) and its stored payloads (7 days total) expire, so a poller that skips a week permanently loses delete visibility.
  • Record-mutation endpoints (create/update/delete) accept at most 10 records per call, so any upsert-based sync-back needs its own batching loop rather than sending one large array.

Airtable connector FAQ

What Airtable data does the connector extract?
6 objects: bases, tables, records, fields, views and linked records. Each lands in its own table with types preserved; history-style objects (0) load as append-only streams.
Is the Airtable integration incremental?
Yes. After the initial full load, every run reads only records changed since the last watermark (updated-at or event timestamp) and applies an upsert or an append depending on the object.
Where can I load Airtable data?
Into 43 destinations: relational databases, cloud warehouses, data lakes, spreadsheets and BI tools. Each Airtable → destination pair has its own page with the object-to-table mapping.
